When is the cyclone season in Sri Lanka?
Cyclones in Sri Lanka are rare but most likely to occur during the inter-monsoon periods.
While Sri Lanka is generally safe from severe cyclones compared to other parts of the Bay of Bengal, the highest risk period is during the inter-monsoon months of October and November. During this time, tropical depressions can form, bringing heavy rain and strong winds, primarily affecting the eastern and northern coasts. However, full-blown cyclones are relatively rare.
