Travel style
This is a private tour with an English-speaking chauffeur-guide and an air-conditioned vehicle suited to the group size. The pace can be adjusted for reasonable rest stops, weather, and local conditions. Responsible travel
Wild animals must be viewed from a safe distance without feeding, chasing, or blocking them. Elephant, leopard, whale, dolphin, and other wildlife sightings are never guaranteed. We use responsible safari and marine operators and visit community businesses where practical.
Important information
The starting price is per person based on two travelers sharing a double or twin room.
Train seats are subject to railway schedules and availability. If the service is unavailable, the journey continues by road with scenic stops.
Whale watching from Mirissa is seasonal, normally best from November to April, and depends on sea and weather conditions.
The selected elephant safari park may change if access, weather, or animal movement makes a nearby park more suitable.
Sigiriya has around 1,200 steps. Comfortable shoes, sun protection, and water are recommended.

Day 2
Anuradhapura Sacred City
Take a full-day trip to the UNESCO-listed ancient city of Anuradhapura. Visit Sri Maha Bodhi, Ruwanwelisaya, Jetavanaramaya, Thuparamaya, monastery ruins, moonstones, and other remains of Sri Lanka’s first ancient capital. Return to Sigiriya for the night.
Day 3
Sigiriya Rock Fortress and Dambulla Cave Temple
Climb Sigiriya early, before the strongest heat. See the ancient frescoes, Mirror Wall, Lion Paws, palace ruins, and wide views from the summit. Later, visit the five main caves of Dambulla Cave Temple, known for their Buddha statues and painted ceilings. Overnight in Sigiriya.
Day 4
Polonnaruwa and Minneriya-Area Safari
Explore the UNESCO-listed city of Polonnaruwa, including the royal palace area, audience hall, bathing pond, and Gal Vihara rock statues. In the afternoon, join a jeep safari planned for Minneriya National Park. A nearby park may be used if local conditions or elephant movement make it more suitable. Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed. Overnight in Sigiriya.
Day 5
Sigiriya to Kandy via Matale
Travel south through Matale. Visit a spice garden for an introduction to Sri Lankan spices and their traditional uses, then stop at the colourful Sri Muthumariamman Hindu Temple when open to visitors. Continue to Kandy and enjoy a relaxed evening near the lake. Overnight in Kandy.
Day 6
Kandy City and Botanical Gardens
Visit the Temple of the Tooth and learn why it is one of Sri Lanka’s most important Buddhist sites. Continue to the Bahirawakanda Buddha viewpoint, a local market, and the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya. A gem museum visit can be added without any obligation to buy. End the day with an optional Kandy cultural dance show. Overnight in Kandy.
Day 7
Kandy to Ella through the Tea Country
Leave Kandy early and travel into the central highlands. Stop at Ramboda Falls, visit a tea factory near Labookellie, and continue through Nuwara Eliya with time near Gregory Lake and the historic post office. Take the scenic train from Nanu Oya to Ella if confirmed; otherwise, continue by road with scenic stops. Overnight in Ella.
Day 8
Ella, Nine Arch Bridge, and Little Adam’s Peak
Walk to Nine Arch Bridge and learn about this well-known railway landmark. Continue along the easier trail to Little Adam’s Peak for views across the hills and tea country. The afternoon is free, or you can add the Flying Ravana zip-line or a longer Ella Rock hike at extra cost. Overnight in Ella.
Day 9
Ella to Yala and Afternoon Safari
Travel south and stop at Ravana Falls when road and weather conditions are safe. In the afternoon, take a jeep safari in Yala National Park to look for elephants, crocodiles, deer, birds, and other wildlife. Leopards and sloth bears live in the park, but sightings cannot be promised. Overnight near Yala.
Day 10
Yala to Mirissa
Drive to Sri Lanka’s southern coast and check in near Mirissa Beach. Visit Coconut Tree Hill when access and weather allow, see the local waterfront, and enjoy free time beside the sea. Overnight in Mirissa.
Day 11
Mirissa, Galle, Madu River, and Bentota
Join an optional early whale-watching trip during the suitable season, subject to weather and safe sea conditions. Continue to the UNESCO-listed Galle Fort for a guided walk through its historic streets and ramparts. Travel north for a responsible sea turtle conservation stop and a Madu River boat ride through mangroves if time allows. This is a long day, so later stops may be adjusted if the boat returns late. Overnight in Bentota.
Day 12
Bentota Beach and Transfer to Colombo
Enjoy a free morning in Bentota for the beach, swimming when conditions are safe, or optional water activities. Travel to Colombo in the afternoon. Depending on arrival time, visit Gangaramaya Temple and walk beside the ocean at Galle Face Green. Overnight in Colombo.
