Elephant visit
The Pinnawala stop is for observation from the public visitor areas. Elephant routines can change, and close contact is not guaranteed. Elephant riding and direct animal-contact activities are not included.

Day-by-day route
Day 1
Day 1 – Colombo Airport, Pinnawala and Kandy
Meet your driver-guide at Bandaranaike International Airport. Travel to Pinnawala, normally about 2.5 to 3 hours depending on traffic, and observe the elephants from the designated visitor areas. Continue to Kandy, which usually takes another 1.5 to 2 hours. If your arrival time allows, visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and attend a Kandyan cultural dance show in the evening. Overnight in Kandy.
Day 2
Day 2 – Peradeniya, Sigiriya and Dambulla
After breakfast, visit the Royal Botanic Gardens at Peradeniya. Continue to Sigiriya, with approximately 2.5 to 3.5 hours of driving depending on traffic. Lunch is at your own expense. Climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress to see the ancient ruins, frescoes and views from the summit. Drive about 30 minutes to Dambulla and visit the historic cave temple complex. This is a long and active day. Overnight in the Sigiriya or Dambulla area.
Day 3
Day 3 – Optional Morning Stop and Departure
Have breakfast and check out. If your departure time allows, make a short stop at a spice garden or a local village experience agreed with your driver-guide. Then travel to Bandaranaike International Airport or your Colombo hotel. The drive from Dambulla to the airport normally takes about 3.5 to 4.5 hours, while Colombo can take longer. A brief Negombo stop may be possible when there is enough time before airport check-in.
